Coaching Overview

Hi, my name is Paul Neville and I am the Director of Coaching for Glenhaven Football Club. My goal is to provide all coaches with the resources and support they need to coach effectively.

But first, a little about me. I am a football tragic who supports the Wanderers and Tottenham Hotspurs. In my playing years, I played with Hills Rockets, my school, various representative teams, Macquarie University, Glenhaven and in the Premier League of the Churches competition. I also had the fortune of training with Millwall in England for a week.

As a coach, I coached a Premier League Churches team for 3 years and in this time managed to win and lose a grand final. After this I took a break from football to do further university studies and having competed this, I returned to coaching football in the 2014 season. I currently coach my son’s team (U11s in 2019) and the Glenhaven Premier League squad.

As a Club we follow the Football Federation of Australia (FFA) National Curriculum. This not only provides the theory behind improving player development but also provides model training sessions with training drills for coaches that supports the theory.

It only takes about 30 mins to prepare for each training session. This gives you time to read and understand the drills in each session, and plan the session to avoid wasting time between drills.

The FFA National Football Curriculum identifies 4 Training Building Blocks or phases for players of different ages.

Volunteers Needed

There are a number of roles we’re hoping to find volunteers to help out with in 2019. These include an assistant junior referee coordinator and an event organiser. There are also lots of little jobs to be done throughout the season. You don’t need to be on the committee for any of these roles and the more people involved, the lighter the load, so please consider if you can help out and contact if you have any questions about what needs doing.

Glenhaven FC is pleased to announce that we have two new major sponsors partnering with us in 2018.
